ORIGIN
Exactly as the name says: the oil everything is based on. A finished lubricant is more than 90% base oil, with a small dose of additives tuning the performance. As with cooking, the broth decides the dish — lubricant quality is decided by the base oil.
Base oils are graded internationally (API Groups). Cleaner and more stable than old-style Group I are Group II and premium Group III — the high-quality range GS Caltex produces by advanced hydrocracking and ships worldwide as Kixx LUBO.
01 — FEEDSTOCK
Oil the hydrocracker could not fully convert — unconverted oil. This heavy, tangled feed is where base oil begins: a low-use stream turned into the start of something premium.

Two-stage hydrocracking, isomerization-dewaxing and hydrofinishing: straightening tangled molecules and trimming the wax that stiffens in the cold — into an oil that flows the same at any temperature.
01 — PREMIUM GRADE
A design that flexibly produces both Group II and III from the same feed — Group III, with its high viscosity index, is the heart of premium automotive and industrial lubricants. The stricter emission rules become, the more the world wants this clear oil.

03 — SINCE 2007
Production began in November 2007 alongside the second upgrader. Starting at 16,000 barrels a day, repeated expansions brought it to 30,000 — and with over 70% exported, GS Caltex became a key supplier to the Asian market.
